Sonu Sood Receives UN Awar: The Bollywood actor Sonu Sood was honored with the UN Prestigious award SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for having helped the people during the COVID-19 lockdown.

He has worked relentlessly over the last few months to send the stranded people to their native places.

Apart from sending the people to their native places, he donated an amount for educational, medical help in the last few months.  He was joined by the likes of Hollywood actors Angelina Jolie, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra. He won the hearts of millions of people across the country as he did humanitarian work by providing transport and food to people who were stuck during the Covid-19 lockdown.      

Actor Sonu Sood, who is often called as the “messiah of migrants” for his generous work during the Covid-19 lockdown, has won accolades from people including politicians, business tycoons, film actress, and athletes.

He started to offer full scholarships for the students who are underprivileged and have financial constraints.

Owing to Covid-19, the UN award was presented at a virtual ceremony on September 29.  With this, he joined the likes of Hollywood actors Angelina Jolie, David Beckham, Leonardo DiCaprio, Emma Watson, Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchett, Antonio Banderas, Nicole Kidman, and Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra who were honored by UN bodies.

Sonu Sood on receiving this award, says “This is a rare honor. UN recognition is very special. I have done whatever little I have done, in my humble way, for my fellow countrymen without any expectations.

However, to be recognized and awarded feels good. I fully support the UNDP in its endeavors to achieve the SDGs by 2030. Planet Earth and mankind will greatly benefit from the implementation of these goals. ”
