Movie Verdict
Sivakarthikeyan is not only an actor but also a producer and lyricist for the film. The story of Don is hardly novel since we have seen many films dealing with college life, student troubles, and so on, but what made Don interesting was the comedy. The comedy worked beautifully, and you could sit for two and a half hours just to watch it. Aside from that, there are no emotions in this film, and the filmmaker fails to integrate them.
The film’s flow has ups and downs, with the film starting well then devolving into standard college drama after around 15 minutes. During the proceedings, however, director Cibi Chakaravarthi addressed one of the key themes of self-discovery, namely that many people live for others rather than for themselves, and this point would resonate with many young people.
There was nothing new to see in the first half, but the second half kicks up as student Don and Principle begin a cat and mouse game, and the ending could have been better.
Soori has justified his portrayal, Priyanka Arul Mohan looks cute but doesn’t have much room to shine, and the rest of the performers performed admirably. Sivakarthikeyan has really nailed it on screen, while SJ Suryah as Principle has left us speechless.
K.M Bhaskaran’s photography isn’t up to pace, but Anirudh’s music never fails to wow, and Sivakathikeyan and Anirudh have formed a popular team. The rest of the technical personnel did a fantastic job.
Finally, Don is a one-time viewing film that children must-see.
