GV Prakash Kumar and Kayadu Lohar’s romantic horror film Immortal is gearing up for its digital premiere following its theatrical release on September 4, 2026. Blending romance, supernatural elements, and horror, the Tamil film takes viewers into a mysterious world where an ordinary search for affordable accommodation leads to a frightening experience. The movie is now set to make its OTT debut on SonyLIV.
Immortal will begin streaming on SonyLIV on October 30, 2026. The platform announced the digital premiere on social media with the message, “Oru pudhu ulagam… Oru IMMORTAL kadhal!” which translates to “A new world… an immortal love story.” Viewers who missed the film in theatres can watch it online following its digital release.
The story begins around 1,000 years ago, when a tribal couple gives birth to a child with mysterious supernatural abilities. The unusual birth sets an ancient evil in motion, laying the foundation for the events that unfold centuries later. The narrative then moves to modern-day Chennai, where Magi, played by GV Prakash Kumar, struggles to find an affordable place to stay.
Magi works at his uncle’s printing press, where his uncle, portrayed by Lollu Sabha Maaran, provides him with employment while he searches for accommodation. His circumstances eventually lead him to Sindhu, played by Kayadu Lohar. She lives in a luxurious apartment and offers him a room at an unexpectedly low rent. In need of an affordable place to live, Magi accepts the offer without realising the danger that awaits him.
What initially seems like a convenient arrangement soon turns into a nightmare. Magi discovers that he is trapped inside the apartment building and that escaping is not as easy as he imagined. As the supernatural mystery unfolds, the connection between the events of the past and the frightening experiences in the present becomes central to the story.
Apart from GV Prakash Kumar and Kayadu Lohar, the film features TM Karthik, Kumar Natarajan and Lollu Sabha Maaran in important roles. The movie combines a romantic storyline with supernatural horror, attempting to bring together emotional relationships and frightening situations.
However, Immortal received a mixed response following its theatrical release. The ETimes review awarded the film two out of five stars, criticising its execution and dependence on familiar horror elements.
